Why there should only be 4 working days in a week

The standard week comprising of 5 working days with 2 resting days gives most people a chance to relax at the end of the week before going back to work. However, this is heavily flawed in the sense that the weekend doesn’t exactly allow people to relax to their full potential. Starting from zero on Monday most people are dreading the long work week. This will cause them to have negative thoughts, and this will lower the people’s productivity greatly as they are not motivated to get their jobs done. Tuesday can be seen as the most productive day in this badly formed week as people have gotten back into the sense of working which allows them to work faster. After Tuesday productivity will just go down. On Wednesday people are anticipating the final two entire days of horrible work which they must endure until the weekend. By the time Saturday hits everyone is completely drained and just spends the entire day recovering. People don’t have fun more than they do time wasting tasks to recover to prevent boredom. Sunday people have energy to do some tasks but on Sunday everyone is dreading the next entire work week. This causes anxiety and doesn’t allow one to enjoy the weekend.

What should happen is an off day in Wednesday with more hours on the other four days. This will not keep productivity the same but actually increase productivity greatly. The increased hours on other days will allow people to enter a flow state for their long hours. On Wednesday people can have their energy recharged. Since their energy hasn’t been completely sapped away by the work week, they can also participate in fun activities giving them a boost of energy. In any case during workdays the next weekend is less than 3 days away which means that people always have something to look forward to. With people having higher energy levels the mood of the companies will increase. This will further allow the company’s productivity to increase. This will result in happier employees and richer companies. The same concept applies for schools giving happier students, staff, and more educated children.
