There are many different types of feelings that I would consider negative, but many of them are only negative because they don’t feel good. What I mean by this is I would consider hunger a negative feeling since I don’t like being hungry, but hunger in general is a very important feeling. Unlike some feelings like sadness or happiness which wouldn’t immediately affect you if you lost them, if I lost a sense of hunger I may end up starving to death since I don’t eat anything. Without hunger there isn’t much incentive to eat anything unless it is for the pleasure of eating. I know many people will eat just to eat but I don’t gain that much enjoyment from eating, although I do gain a little bit.
Whenever I feel a negative emotion such as hunger, or thirst I will try to eliminate it logically. In most ways, that would be to do what your body wants to do: eat food or drink water. With more complicated feelings such as boredom, it is harder since I can’t do what my body wants me to do, and I don’t know what to do. I have to be more creative when solving this problem. Usually I will finish some work that I have pending or do something else at that current moment until I make it back to my house so that I can do whatever fun or engaging activity I previously wanted to do. Whenever I have some negative feeling I try to eliminate it by satiating that desire.
